Wasylynko, Laurette passed away October 12th, 2016 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her loving husband Emil, 2 brothers Arcade, George, and 1 sister Lillian. She is survived by her children David (Linda); Patricia (Richard); 2 Grandsons Matthew, Gareth, 1 sister Dorothy. Laurette was born in St. Jean, MB. A farmer's daughter with fond memories of country life but she was also drawn to the big city lights and pursued a nursing career in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

She met and married Emil Wasylynko in 1954. Laurette was devoted to the family and raising her children. Laurette enjoyed the simple pleasures, setting a beautiful Christmas table, cooking traditional French Canadian foods as well as authentic Ukrainian dishes that Emil loved. She made the family house a home. Laurette and Emil devoted many years to their Construction Business in Winnipeg 'Shaftsbury Construction'. Laurette was bookkeeper and business confidante.

In 1970 the family moved cross country to Victoria B.C. Emil and Laurette ran the Mayfair Motel in Victoria. Laurette was the Grand Dame of Mayfair, making sure rooms were spotless and front desk operations ran smoothly. She was a working Mom yet still managed to create a loving home without missing a beat.

Her final years were spent in White Rock, BC with everything that made her content; her children near, hours of gardening, many grandkids' hockey and soccer games to attend, theatre and restaurant outings, going to Mass at her beloved Star of the Sea, walking those hills, enjoying visits with her nieces and their families, and doting on the family cats. Laurette was a beautiful human being inside and out, so willing to lend a helping hand, offer a kind word. She saw and appreciated things most others would let pass by.

Visitation will be held from 7-9 pm Monday, October 17th, 2016 at Star of the Sea Parish White Rock, BC. Funeral Mass will be held 11 am Tuesday, October 18th, 2016 at Star of the Sea Parish White Rock, BC. In lieu of Flowers donations may be made to the B.C Cancer Society. View Tribute Book.
